As we move on to new projects, the studio that brought you Baldur’s Gate 3 & Divinity: Original Sin 2 is looking for a Writer to join the team and help us continue to craft the high quality games our fans expect.
At Larian, a Writer is not just a dialogue writer, but a storyteller, a scene designer, a collaborator, and at heart - a player. They work closely with other creatives to deliver the breadth and richness of agency that we want to experience in games, and to give players the choices that make them ask “Are they really going to allow me to do that?!” Only to discover that not only did we allow it, we built a whole alternative story path out of it.
Write and test complex branching dialogues with player agency that fulfill narrative requirements. Create memorable and unique characters emotionally engaging for players. Deliver shippable dialogue meeting set standards with minimal feedback. Collaborate with other teams on situation design, advocating for storytelling and character. Maintain, troubleshoot, and track dialogues, communicating regularly with teams. Write texts for in-game non-dialogue elements like tooltips, item descriptions, and UI. Liaise with other teams regarding dialogue and story elements. You are able to work in English. You are an exceptional writer demonstrating skills through past experience and/or a skills test. You play games, are passionate about storytelling, and prioritize player experience. You have worked in a production or deadline-driven environment. You seek feedback proactively, think critically about your own work, and continuously improve your craft. You are able to write a range of interesting and believable characters and find unexpected story angles. You are collaborative and can work well with others. You have experience pitching your ideas.
