- At least 5 years of digital reporting and editing experience, including fast-moving breaking news, in extreme weather, climate, science or a related space. - A sharp POV on how to structure and frame weather-related content, particularly forecasts, for national and local audiences. - A passion for science and the natural world and a strong desire to find and tell these interesting stories. - Exceptional communication skills within a newsroom – you should be able to communicate the value of your work internally as much as you can externally. - Analytics experience to understand what makes audiences tick. - At least a basic understanding of weather-related data and terminology, including which government agencies are responsible for certain forecasts. - Ability and willingness to work outside regular hours during major weather events. - A clear understanding of style and grammar. - A college degree or equivalent.
