Reporting to the VP of Public Affairs, the Director of Product Communications will lead product storytelling for Discord, developing and executing strategies to introduce the platform to consumer and industry audiences. This role involves building comprehension for Discord's unique position at the intersection of connection and play, and also includes shaping the vision, strategy, and team for the Product Comms function.
Requirements
- 10+ years experience working in communications (in-house or agency)
- A strategic mindset with a passion for shaping stories that educate and inspire
- A leader who embraces and effectively navigates complex issues and ambiguity to deliver outstanding results
- Exceptional writing skills – from message development to drafting press materials that resonate
- Proven track record of moving fast, being entrepreneurial, and getting results that matter
- Strong media relationships at both top tier and non-traditional news outlets
- Experience identifying and assessing communication risks
- A self-starter with a creative mentality when it comes to shaping “always-on” storytelling moments in-between news announcements
