The Online Software Engineer will help build networked game experiences for EA Sports titles. We are looking for engineers who enjoy prototyping, planning, implementing, and maintaining amazing new features and technology for the biggest sports video game franchise in the world, EA SPORTS FC. This role is ideal for an experienced C++ engineer who enjoys solving challenging real-time systems problems, mentoring engineers, and leading technical execution without being the primary architect for the organization. You will report to the Development Director and work with the Technical Lead to estimate, build and improve projects. You will be focused on delivering excellent game experiences through efficient and effective code, from the customer-facing experience through to the backend services that power those experiences.

The ranges listed below are what EA in good faith expects to pay applicants for this role in these locations at the time of this posting. If you reside in a different location, a recruiter will advise on the applicable range and benefits. Pay offered will be determined based on a number of relevant business and candidate factors (e.g. education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, geographic location, or business needs).
PAY RANGES
* British Columbia (depending on location e.g. Vancouver vs. Victoria) *$141,400 - $204,400 CAD
Pay is just one part of the overall compensation at EA.
For Canada, we offer a package of benefits including vacation (3 weeks per year to start), 10 days per year of sick time, paid top-up to EI/QPIP benefits up to 100% of base salary when you welcome a new child (12 weeks for maternity, and 4 weeks for parental/adoption leave), extended health/dental/vision coverage, life insurance, disability insurance, retirement plan to regular full-time employees. Certain roles may also be eligible for bonus and other incentive programs.

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent professional experience. 10+ years of professional software engineering experience. Extensive professional experience developing high-performance C++ applications. Experience developing large-scale real-time software systems. Experience building multiplayer, networking, online, or distributed systems. Experience leading technical execution for engineering teams, including mentoring engineers, reviewing technical designs, and driving engineering best practices. Previous experience managing or mentoring engineers, including direct management experience or demonstrated technical leadership. Strong understanding of Modern C++, Multithreading and concurrency, Client/server architecture, Networking fundamentals, Performance optimization, Debugging complex systems. Experience collaborating with backend service teams and integrating cloud-based services into large software systems. Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate across engineering, production, QA, design, and technical leadership.
