At EA, we believe games are powerful because they bring together multiple ways people engage: play, watch, create, and connect. And increasingly, the biggest entertainment platforms aren't just places to consume content - they're places where communities build.
Creator-made content is already a proven part of EA's history - from community creation tools in Battlefield to The Gallery in The Sims 4. We believe new creative technologies and tools will expand how players engage with and contribute to our experiences, supported by thoughtful product design, safety systems, and global reach. Our focus is on enabling more players to participate in creative expression by making creation easier, safer, and more rewarding.
As a Senior Software Engineer, you will integrate EA's shared game-data capture technology into production game codebases and establish the systems that make instrumented title builds reproducible and maintainable.
Working across dedicated Perforce streams, you will adapt title-specific engine systems to expose synchronized rendering, simulation, input, audio, and gameplay signals. You will own the path from an available title stream to a validated capture build.
This is a hybrid role, working three days per week in Redwood City, Montreal, or Vancouver.
You will report to the Lead Technical Director.
Responsibilities:
You will integrate the shared capture SDK into dedicated streams for multiple EA titles.
You will own ongoing merges from title development streams and resolve integration conflicts while minimizing long-lived patches.
You will develop title-specific adapters for renderer outputs, camera state, input, physics, animation, navigation, audio, gameplay state, and action events.
You will configure controlled capture modes, including fixed-timestep simulation, frame-rate control, and synchronization between simulation, rendering, audio, and input.
You will establish reproducible capture builds tied to exact Perforce changelists, dependencies, configurations, and schema versions.
You will develop automated validation that detects missing modalities, timing drift, dropped frames, corrupted output, and incompatible schema changes.
You will profile and debug performance, memory, threading, and stability issues introduced by instrumentation.
You will translate researcher requests into title-specific implementations and identify requirements that should become shared capture-platform capabilities.
Qualifications:
8+ years of professional software engineering experience in AAA games, real-time simulation, or similarly complex systems
Expertise in C++
Experience integrating or maintaining systems across game-engine branches
Deep familiarity with Perforce streams, merges, conflict resolution, and build reproducibility
Experience with game-engine runtime systems such as rendering, simulation, input, animation, physics, audio, or gameplay frameworks
Experience diagnosing timing, threading, performance, memory, and stability issues
Experience with build systems and CI/CD tooling
Python or similar scripting experience for build, test, and capture automation
Experience with telemetry, serialization, schema-versioned data, replay, or automated data validation
