// Open Role at Fatshark AB
Join Fatshark as a Narrative Designer to craft dynamic, non-linear storytelling for Warhammer 40,000: Darktide. Drive robust narrative foundations and integrate storytelling with gameplay in an agile, collaborative environment.
We are a critically acclaimed Swedish video game studio with about 200 experienced and skilled developers. We are most well-known for the Warhammer: Vermintide franchise, but have also helped develop a number of AAA titles and we launched the highly anticipated game Warhammer 40,000: Darktide.
We have grown quite a bit over the last few years, but we still embrace the same values that we started with. We want to build the best first person co-op games together, in an approachable, fun and passion-driven way.
We’re looking for a Narrative Designer with a strong passion for the craft and a clear identity as a narrative professional. Bringing a deep understanding of non-linear game design, your focus is to build dynamic, reactive storytelling for Warhammer 40,000: Darktide. Serving as a present, proactive driver of the narrative, this role champions narrative as a core discipline, establishing clear definitions and seamlessly integrating the craft across the ongoing development of Darktide. Partnering with a close-knit team of designers, artists, and directors, your work directly shapes a world-class entertainment experience.
At Fatshark, we work in a highly agile, collaborative and creative team environment, and you can expect to take on a wide variety of tasks which all have the same goal: creating a strong narrative to match the ambitious goals of Darktide.
Act as a strong creative driving force, establishing robust narrative foundations for the entire team to rally behind
Clearly communicate which areas are narratively important and why they matter for both the game and the team
Support the team in understanding and conveying narrative priorities
Proactively drive the game's narrative considering production realities and constraints
Engage with the idea of building narrative specifically within the constraints and nature of a game like Darktide
Focus on building reactive narrative worlds rather than purely linear, written-story structures
Work creatively to find solutions and move development forward, ensuring narrative needs do not stall or block production discussions
Approach narrative with a design-oriented mindset, ensuring that storytelling actively supports and elevates gameplay
Prior game development experience in a narrative role, demonstrating a strong grasp of interactive, non-linear storytelling
Strong narrative craft and collaboration skills within a game production context
Genuine interest in the Warhammer 40,000 universe
To best support our highly collaborative team, you must be able to work fully on-site at our Stockholm office
A background in tabletop RPGs (TTRPGs)
A blend of game design experience that broadens your skill set without becoming your core identity
Experience working with live service games
A playful, friendly and inclusive workplace
Opportunities for personal growth with varied projects, experienced co-workers and recurring hack weeks/days
Regulated flex time and paid overtime
