About the role

The Systems team is responsible for designing, implementing, maintaining and troubleshooting the technology infrastructure. This includes, but not limited to, storage, networking, workstations, cloud, virtualisation and rendering. We invest time into training and mentoring. What you’ll do:

The Systems Support Administrator will be part of the Systems Support team. They act as an escalation point for the IT Support team which is also part of the Systems Support team supporting studios across North America.

  • Escalation support for all incidents and requests using JIRA service desk

  • Support of storage requests

  • Monitors and maintains a variety of physical and logical systems

  • Administration of the OS images and Linux/Windows application packages.

  • Management of the Licences servers and services

  • Support of the Render farm (software)

  • Support and administration of enterprise storage platforms and file systems.

  • Monitor system health, performance, and infrastructure alerts using monitoring tools such as Grafana and Nagios.

  • Works independently and in teams on administrative and technical projects

  • Produce and update documentation using Confluence

  • Collaborate with other technology teams on various projects and to support artists workflows and production requirements

  • You will partake in an on-call rotation to provide support outside working hours.

Requirements

What we’re looking for:

  • 3+ years in a level 1 IT position or similar role

  • Hands-on hardware experience; builds, upgrades, repairs.

  • OS (Redhat based, Windows and OSX) and application support and deployment

  • Active Directory management

  • Basic scripting language (Powershell, Bash, Python)

  • Basic knowledge of Git/version control workflows.

  • Understanding of enterprise storage architecture and file systems (GPFS, Isilon, ZFS).

  • VMware ESXi administration and virtualization fundamentals.

  • Strong experience in a customer-facing role.

  • Strong self-guided problem-solving skills

  • A commitment to teamwork

  • Proven ability to adapt and work well under pressure and to tight deadlines.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

You might also have:

  • Configuration Management and Automation

  • Windows Systems administration, patch management, and deployment

  • Networking (Layer2, Layer3, including dynamic routing and VPN tunnels)

  • Backup and storage management

  • Familiarity with render farm infrastructure and VFX production environments.

  • Exposure to cloud-based infrastructure and hybrid environments.
