Let's start with the role

The HR Operations & Payroll Manager leads Payroll and HR Operations for Greece and the international markets supported by HQ. The role is responsible for the frameworks, policies and processes underpinning the full employee lifecycle, ensuring compliance across payroll and employment practices, and providing internal counsel on complex employee relations matters.The role also supports Kaizen’s international expansion by establishing employment frameworks for new markets and defining how HR Operations and Payroll responsibilities are shared between HQ and local markets.

As an HR Operations & Payroll Manager you will****:

• Drive Group-wide standardization and governance: Optimize processes and promote continuous improvement across Payroll and HR Operations, ensuring operational excellence, consistency, and compliance.
• Develop and implement global frameworks: Lead the design, development, and implementation of frameworks, policies, and procedures across all Group jurisdictions, balancing global standards with local regulatory requirements and operational needs.
• Define and execute operational strategy: Establish the HR Operations and Payroll strategy for Greece and HQ-supported markets, covering the full employee lifecycle, from onboarding to offboarding.
• Oversee global payroll operations and compliance: Ensure compliant global payroll operations and establish robust governance frameworks for Greece, while providing operational oversight and support for international payroll implementation and new market launches.
• Advise on complex employee relations matters: Act as the internal advisor on complex employee relations cases and high-risk employee separations in Greece and HQ-supported markets, ensuring legally sound, risk-mitigated outcomes.
• Lead and develop the team: Set strategic priorities for the Payroll and HR Operations team, fostering accountability, capability development, and continuous improvement.
• Ensure HR Operations readiness for expansion: Oversee and sign off on HR Operations frameworks for new market entries and global expansion, ensuring readiness across employment contracts, HR policies, payroll data and processes, systems, and labour law compliance.

What you’ll bring

• A degree in HR, Business Administration or a related field.
• 5+ years of experience in HR Operations, including payroll and international/multi-country exposure.
• Proven experience in people management.
• Strong knowledge of Greek labor law and payroll compliance; knowledge of international employment frameworks is a plus.
• Proficiency in MS Office.
• Analytical and problem-solving skills for variable, complex problems that need in-depth analysis.
• Project management skills.
• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to counsel and advise senior stakeholders, including market heads and directors.
• Demonstrated AI-first mindset, actively leveraging AI tools and assistants to improve productivity, problem-solving and decision-making. Continuously explores new AI capabilities and champions their practical adoption within teams, using AI as a natural part of day-to-day work rather than a supplementary tool.
