We are looking for a QA Tech Lead to work at Solitaire studio in Warsaw office! 

Responsibilities

Processes and strategy

  • Set up and continuously improve QA processes, standards, and approaches within SGH.
  • Develop and implement the test automation strategy (test levels, approaches, tools, prioritization).
  • Create and maintain core QA documentation: QA strategy, standards, guidelines.
  • Participate in roadmap planning: estimate risks and effort from a quality perspective.
  • Take part in feature planning: analyze requirements, define and review test coverage, assess quality risks.
  • Build and maintain quality and QA/automation efficiency metrics for both business stakeholders and internal process improvement.

Technical leadership

  • Define test automation architecture for the Unity client and related services (client–server interaction, APIs, back-office).
  • Take into account the specifics of the Unity game engine: scenes, assets, builds, configurations, integration with analytics, events, in-app purchases.
  • Participate in the SGH release cycle: branching, builds, releases, hotfix process, store builds.
  • Set up and maintain CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, TeamCity or similar) for automated test runs and release process.

Team leadership and people development

  • Lead the automation team (workload, priorities, goals, support and coaching).
  • Define individual development plans, goals and expectations for engineers.
  • Conduct technical interviews, assess candidates’ hard and soft skills.
  • Provide mentoring, review automation approaches, and grow technical expertise inside the team.
  • Contribute to the overall development process setup (Jira workflow, knowledge sharing, handover between teams).

Quality control and analytics

  • Provide transparent quality reports for features and releases.
  • Investigate PIs/incidents and participate in root cause analysis.
  • Use analytics (Google Analytics, Sentry, etc.) to evaluate the impact of defects and release quality on players and the business.
  • Collect and analyze key metrics (defects, flakiness, coverage, feedback loop time, build stability, etc.).

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in automation testing of web and mobile applications, including complex client–server systems. Our framework: Java + Spring + TestNG + Appium + webDriver. Our tooling setup is using Java/Python.
  • 1+ year in a QA Lead / Tech Lead / Team Lead role with responsibility for processes and people.
  • Strong practical and theoretical knowledge of testing and software development processes.
  • Experience creating test strategies and plans for large, live products (live-ops, frequent releases, A/B tests).
  • Solid understanding of client–server architecture and hands-on API testing experience.
  • Experience with Agile methodologies (Scrum, Kanban) in product teams.
  • Experience with one or more SQL databases.
  • Experience with CI tools (Jenkins, TeamCity or similar).
  • Understanding of build release and deployment processes.
  • Experience with Google Analytics / Sentry or similar systems.
  • English: Intermediate or higher (written and spoken). 

Nice to have

  • Experience designing or evolving a test automation framework for Unity games.
  • Broad product and domain outlook: understanding F2P games, monetization, user analytics, and how quality impacts business metrics.
  • Experience in game development / mobile gaming.
  • Experience working with LiveOps, Product, Marketing on quality-related topics.
  • Experience with cloud infrastructure and/or containers (Docker, Kubernetes).

Requirements

- 5 years+ of experience in the functional testing of web and mobile applications (Android Google, Amazon, Win10, iOS); at least a year on QA Lead position - Advanced practice and theoretical knowledge in testing methodology and development process - Experience in creating tests strategy and plans - Understanding of client-server architecture and API testing - Strong technical background - Knowledge in Agile (Scrum, Kanban) process - Experience with either MySQL, MSSQL, MongoDB - Experience with either Fiddler or Charles, Postman, Swagger - Experience in CI tools such as Jenkins or Teamcity - Experience in builds releasing and deployment processes - Knowledge of ADB/iTools/iFunbox - Analytical, problem-solving and team-working skills - Knowledge in Google Analytics/AppCenter - Intermediate English Level (written and spoken)
