The Technical Product Owner owns delivery clarity and outcomes for technically complex initiatives. They turn agreed business and product priorities into clear, feasible, delivery-ready work and coordinate execution across Product, Engineering, QA, and stakeholders to ensure predictable delivery with minimal ambiguity, avoidable delays, or rework.

Key Responsibilities

Backlog Ownership & Requirement Shaping

  • Manage and continuously refine the technical delivery backlog, ensuring sequencing and readiness are aligned with Product Managers, business goals, engineering capacity, dependencies, and delivery risks.
  • Translate complex business needs into clear user stories, acceptance criteria, and delivery-ready tasks.
  • Phase deliverables (e.g., POC, MVP, future iterations) based on business value and technical complexity.
  • Identify and resolve gaps, unclear assumptions, edge cases, and risks during refinement before work is presented to the development team.

Technical Coordination

  • Partner with Tech Leads and Architects to identify, track, and backlog internal dependencies, non-functional requirements, technical debt, and system integrations.
  • Reduce delivery blockers by clarifying scope, priorities, dependencies, assumptions, and expected outcomes before and during implementation.

Delivery & Stakeholder Alignment

  • Align shared understanding of sprint goals, scope, and acceptance criteria with development teams.
  • Support acceptance and validation of delivered work against agreed requirements, acceptance criteria, and expected outcomes together with Product Managers, QA, and Engineering.
  • Provide visibility to management and stakeholders regarding status, trade-offs, dependencies, and delivery progress.
  • Continuously improve backlog refinement and delivery preparation processes to reduce friction.

Requirements

  • 4+ years of experience as a Product Owner, Technical Product Owner, Business Analyst, or Delivery Manager in a software development environment.
  • Experience working on technically complex products or platforms, with the ability to quickly understand domain-specific workflows, constraints, and dependencies.
  • Strong backlog management skills, including story decomposition, acceptance criteria definition, and prioritization.
  • Analytical mindset with a proven ability to challenge assumptions, uncover edge cases, and surface risks early.
  • Technical literacy sufficient to communicate effectively with developers and Architects (deep hands-on coding expertise is not required).
  • Agile proficiency with hands-on experience in Scrum, Kanban, backlog refinement, sprint planning, and iterative delivery practices.
  • Excellent communication skills (Upper-Intermediate/B2 or higher spoken and written English) with a highly collaborative, transparent working style.

Nice to Have

  • Familiarity with databases, APIs, microservices, web applications, distributed systems, and cloud services.
  • Background in areas such as ad-tech, mar-tech, data platforms, partner integrations, campaign management, or similar technically complex environments.
  • A data-driven mindset, comfortable using facts, metrics, and evidence to support decisions.

What Success Looks Like

  • Ready for Dev: Work entering the sprint is clear, well-scoped, and immediately actionable.
  • Total Alignment: Requirements, acceptance criteria, and expected outcomes are fully aligned across Product, Engineering, and QA.
  • Proactive Risk Management: Risks, edge cases, and dependencies are identified and mitigated before they become delivery blockers.
  • Predictable Delivery: Less ambiguity, less rework, and fewer avoidable delays.
