As a Senior UX Designer at Niantic's Tokyo Studio, you will lead the end-to-end UX vision for a game title or major feature, from strategy to high-fidelity interfaces, keeping the player central. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams like Product, Engineering, Art, and Marketing, influencing product direction and shaping player experiences at the intersection of deep game design and consumer product accessibility. You will also mentor designers and help define best practices for integrating AI tools into design workflows.
Requirements
- 6+ years of professional UX/UI design experience, including senior ownership of complex, ambiguous projects end to end.
- A portfolio demonstrating strong mobile interaction design and visual/UI craft, with clear evidence of your specific role, decisions, and measurable impact on shipped products.
- Expert-level user flows, wireframing, and visual design; fluency with Figma and modern prototyping tools.
- Hands-on experience integrating AI into a design practice, with the judgment to know where it adds value and where it does not.
- A track record of influencing cross-functional partners and product direction without formal authority.
- Experience mentoring designers and contributing to or defining design systems/patterns.
- Comfort operating autonomously in ambiguity; defining the problem, not just the solution.
- Experience shipping mobile applications or games.
- Strong proficiency in English and Japanese, with the ability to communicate and influence both verbally and in writing across local and global teams.
