Job Overview:
As a Senior Game Designer with Smoking Gun Interactive (SGI), you’re a talented, passionate individual with industry experience in game design for mobile products. You have hands-on experience designing systems, balancing gameplay mechanics, level design, puzzle design and visual/interactive elements of UI. A strong literacy in game design and the ability to clearly and concisely communicate ideas in both written and verbal forms is key. You can work independently with little supervision and collaborate with other disciplines to deliver a high-quality product.

Collaborate with Lead Designer and Design Director on creative vision. Work with UI/UX Designer, Producer, and Client for best-in-class experiences. Build strong design documentation. Evangelize and communicate design vision. Independently develop, build, tune, and document gameplay mechanics to final quality. Track and analyze game data, creating reports with suggested design changes. Adjust game mechanics based on analytics. Collaborate with art and programming. Develop all facets of design on small games and contribute to larger teams. Maintain proficiency in workflows and pipelines. Maintain high quality in all aspects of work. Take initiative in creative problem-solving. Liaise between design team and QA. Must have 3-5 years experience as a game designer. Experience with at least 2 shipped mobile and PC titles. Experience designing for UI centric games. Experience tuning complex gameplay systems. Experience with game analytics and running a live product. Demonstrable expertise in game mechanics design and tuning. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to accept and provide direction, work under pressure, and handle multiple tasks. Self-driven, takes initiative, and works independently. Experience understanding market and target audience for mobile, online, and console games. Willingness to push the envelope and innovate. Positive attitude and passion for gaming. Helpful to have experience with freemium game mechanics, retention, and monetization strategies. Multi-platform development experience (Mobile, PC, Console). Experience working on AAA gaming projects. Basic knowledge of web development (HTML, CSS, Javascript). A bachelor’s degree.
