Sony Imageworks Vancouver is seeking Character FX TDs!
Role Overview:
Join our CFX team to deliver high-quality, technically robust simulations that bring our characters to life. We are looking for an artist who thrives in a fast-paced production environment, balancing the demands of shot-work deadlines with the precision required for character simulation finaling. This role requires technical maturity. You will focus on delivering excellent results through effective shot execution and close collaboration with the team to troubleshoot issues from groom to final render.

The anticipated base salary for an Associate position is $25.96 to $34.62/hr and for an Intermediate position is $36.06 - $48.08/hr. Benefits are per company policy: which include healthcare, tuition reimbursement, RRSP's, Sick and Vacation leave, standard increases as applicable. The actual base salary offered will depend on a variety of factors, including without limitation, the qualifications of the individual applicant for the position, years of relevant experience, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and if applicable, the location of the position.
Please note that you must be able to provide a demo reel that illustrates your relevant artistic and technical experience that also includes the nuances for this specific role.

- Create set-ups, models, and animate character external features such as hair, fur, and cloth - Meet productivity and quota targets for character simulations - Write utility scripts and software code to streamline simulation development - Accountable for meeting schedules and show deadlines - Participate in dailies, rounds, and team reviews - Interact with production, supervisors, and peers for problem-solving and information sharing - Decipher and follow through on shot turnovers, dailies, briefings, notes, and feedback - Work efficiently as part of a team or independently to determine design solutions - In-depth knowledge of Maya, Linux, UNIX, MEL, Perl, and Python - Minimum 2-3 years of relevant experience - Provide a demo reel illustrating artistic and technical experience
