// Open Role at Tencent
Lead market strategy, competitive intelligence, and strategic partnerships for Tencent's overseas digital advertising and gaming ecosystems, driving inorganic growth and deal execution within the Corporate Development Group.
Corporate Development Group (CDG) as the platform for the company's new business incubation and new business exploration, CDG is responsible for promoting development and innovation for important areas such as financial technology and advertising, as well as marketing services, including payment and financial applications. As a professional support platform, CDG also supports the company and various business groups in strategic planning, investments and mergers, investor relations and corporate global communications, marketing and public relations, and more.
1. Market strategy & competitive intelligence
1. Build and run an ongoing market and competitive intelligence system for overseas digital advertising and games: market sizing, player landscape, product and business-model benchmarking, policy and channel shifts.
2. Produce decision-ready strategy papers on priority markets and segments — where to enter or exit, how to sequence, build vs. buy vs. partner.
3. Establish the business performance framework and KPI set for the overseas business; turn scattered signals into reusable judgement.
2. Inorganic growth: target screening, commercial due diligence and deal support
1. Systematically screen potential partnership and investment targets across AdTech, game publishing and monetisation, and marketing SaaS; build and maintain a live target pipeline.
2. Co-lead commercial due diligence: market space, competitive dynamics, business model and unit economics, team quality, synergy value.
3. Deliver clear recommendations and deal-structure options; drive internal and external stakeholders through the process.
4. Track synergy realisation for invested or deeply partnered assets.
3. Ecosystem & strategic partnerships
1. Design the partnership strategy for key overseas ecosystem players — ad platforms, SaaS providers, industry alliances, agency networks, industry media and events — and lead deals from zero to one.
2. Launch joint go-to-market programmes, lead-sharing and joint solutions; feed high-quality pipeline to the sales team and own the outcome.
3. Manage the full lifecycle of priority partnerships, ensuring terms are executed and both sides win; turn the network into a durable market antenna for the company.
1. 5+ years of experience, including 2+ years in a top-tier strategy consulting firm or in strategy / corporate development / business analysis at a leading internet, gaming or advertising company, with a track record of full-cycle industry and corporate strategy projects.
2. Overseas market exposure (Southeast Asia / Europe / Middle East)
3. Strong commercial analytics: able to draw judgement from market data, financials and unit economics, and independently produce a decision-ready industry / competitor / target study.
4. Proven 0-1 external partnership experience: you have independently sourced, negotiated and landed at least one category of strategic partnership.
5. Self-driven, resilient, comfortable with ambiguity, and genuinely hands-on — not looking for a pure research role.
