Localization QA Team Lead | Manila

About the Role

Universally Speaking is looking for an experienced and motivated Chinese FQA Team Lead to join our team in Cebu.

The successful candidate will lead a team of FQA Testers, ensuring high-quality testing standards across gaming projects. This role combines hands-on testing, team leadership, project coordination and client communication.

The ideal candidate will have experience in video game testing, strong leadership abilities and excellent communication skills in English and Chinese.

Key Responsibilities

Team Leadership

• Lead, motivate and support a team of Functional FQA Testers.
• Allocate tasks and monitor daily testing activities.
• Provide coaching, feedback and performance support.
• Monitor attendance, productivity and team performance.
• Support onboarding and training of new team members

FQA Testing

• Oversee functional testing of video games across different platforms.
• Ensure bugs, defects and technical issues are accurately identified and documented.
• Review test reports and ensure testing procedures are followed.
• Monitor testing quality and ensure project deadlines are achieved.
• Support the investigation and reproduction of complex defects.

Project & Client Management

• Coordinate testing activities according to project requirements.
• Communicate progress, risks and issues to management.
• Ensure testing deliverables meet client expectations.
• Work closely with Project Managers and other QA teams.
• Identify opportunities to improve testing processes and efficiency.

Requirements

• Native or fluent Chinese proficiency.
• Strong English communication skills
• Previous experience in FQA or video game testing.
• Previous team leadership or supervisory experience.
• Good understanding of FQA methodologies and bug-tracking processes.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent organisational and communication abilities.
• Ability to work under pressure and meet project deadlines.
• Passion for video games and the gaming industry.

Desirable Skills

• Experience working with international gaming clients.
• Knowledge of different gaming platforms (PC, Console and Mobile).
• Experience with QA reporting tools and bug-tracking systems.
• Experience managing multicultural teams.
• Knowledge of additional languages.

- Proven experience in LQA, localization, or related fields, including leadership or coordination roles- Familiarity with LQA tools, TMS, and bug-tracking software (e.g., JIRA, TestRail)- Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills- Knowledge of linguistic nuances, cultural differences, and industry best practices- Bachelor’s degree in Linguistics, Translation, Localization, or related field preferred- Experience in game, software, or app localization- Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment- Experience with automation tools for LQA is a plus
